South Street Seaport Museum, New York
The South Street
Seaport Museum is New York's interactive historical experience and consists of
four ships at Pier 16, a working 19th-Century letterpress shop, a fine-gifts
store and multiple exhibitions in landmarked buildings that tell the story of
New York City's history through its role as a major world port, trade hub and
place for businesses and cultures to come together. Find picturesque
cobblestone-lined streets and buildings from the early 1800s, exceptional views
of the Brooklyn Bridge and Brooklyn Heights from our pier and interactive
printing demonstrations on printing presses that are part of the Museum's
collection. Come aboard the last remaining three-masted, iron-hulled tall ship
Wavertree and take a tour down into her hold where you'll get to see her
impressive iron belly, from stem to stern. Optional: New York Harbor tours on
the historic 1885 schooner Pioneer and the last-remaining New York-built wooden
tugboat W.O.Decker—the only tugboat the public can ride! (seasonal and
additional fees apply)
